After fleeing war in Congo with little more than the clothes they wore, Chalota and her family found refuge in Uganda. When she went into early labor, Chalota delivered triplets by emergency C-section. The smallest weighed just 1.1 kilograms. All three spent three weeks in the NICU, receiving the oxygen, warmth, and specialized care they needed to survive. Today, they are alive and growing.
“This service saved us. If it ends, I don’t know how many mothers will survive,” Chalota shares.
